Being passionate about knitting helped me work a long career in the corporate world. Knitting was my release from stress and the lack of creativity in the work environment. I created fabulous fiber work outside of my employment. That is why I started Northern Knits by Viviana in 1983. As soon as retired I pursued my passion and today I spend a large portion of my time knitting and doing knitting related activities.
I spent time as President of the Greater Boston Knitting Guild, a Director of the College Club of Boston, and a Director for Caps for Kids Beantown. Currently I remain on the Emeriti Boards of the Greater Boston Food Bank and MIT Venture Mentoring Group.
Living in Bath, Maine I continue to knit 17 century style garb. Locally, I am the Captain of the Maine’s First Ship Clothing Crewe. The Crewe knits and sews clothing to outfit the sailors of the Virginia in 1700’s style common sailors clothing. We create slops (pants), linen shirts, cassocks, waistcoats, hats, stockings and more. Additionally, I am a member of the Maine Fiberarts Group.
